When used with a 9mm this safety pipe together with the red nut will add a visible indication that the gun is safe. It will occupy the chamber and not allow any live ammo to chamber.
A safety pipe (subcompact, short or long- depending on barrel length) should be used with all pistol caliber adapter rings: .40S&W, 45ACP, 45GAP, 10mm and 357sig to help align the Laser Cartridge in place.
It can also help with Accuracy, but that's really the reason you train.
